The 40-Gigabit QSFP+ transceiver module is a hot-swappable, parallel fiber optic module with four independent optical transmission and reception channels. These channels can terminate in another 40-Gigabit QSFP+ transceiver or be split into four separate 10-Gigabit SFP+ transceivers. The QSFP+ transceiver module connects the system's electrical circuitry to either a copper or optical external network. The transceiver is primarily used in short-range applications in switches, routers, and data center equipment, where it offers higher density than SFP+ modules.
