The model is a representation of a Samurai warrior cavalry. Horses first appeared in Japan in the late 4th century, brought from the continent, and were always highly valued. Only noble samurai were trained in horseback riding. A mounted warrior employed archery, swordsmanship, spear skills, and even the art of unarmed combat.
