Art. No.: 500786256 Art. Description: 1:100 Tiger I - German Heavy Tank This model is a replica of the heavy tank Tiger I. After initial battles against Soviet tanks, the German command concluded in 1941 that the existing tanks of the Wehrmacht were insufficient and needed a tank that was both better armed and armored. The following year, two prototypes of heavy tanks were completed. The tank developed by Henschel won the competition, and mass production was immediately initiated. The tank was named Tiger. Tigers were first deployed in combat at the end of 1942, but only in limited numbers. Full utilization of the tank began the following year. With thick armor and impressive armament, the Tiger became the most famous German tank of World War II.
