Weather station with wide-angle webcam, solar panel, and Wi-Fi connection. The idea behind BloomSky, a global user-based weather network, started as a kick-off company and gains traction and significance with each additional installed weather station. Become a part of the project and share your local weather data and images via Wi-Fi and a smartphone app with users worldwide. The outdoor weather station Sky 2 accurately measures temperature, humidity, and air pressure, as well as the presence of precipitation, and features a high-resolution wide-angle webcam. The weather station is powered by a lithium-ion battery, which can be recharged using either the 12V power adapter or the 12V solar panel included in the Skylite Kit. Depending on the weather conditions, the latter requires 10-12 hours of sunlight per week for a full charge. The operating time of Sky 2 on a full battery is approximately two weeks. The HD camera with a 170° wide-angle lens captures images with a resolution of up to 1920x1072 pixels and sends them to the network at a size of 640x640 pixels. It begins its operation at local sunrise and sends an image every three minutes during the first and last hour of the day. From the second hour to the second-to-last hour, this interval increases to five minutes. At sunset, it shuts down. Images are recorded and sent immediately when the camera detects a temperature fluctuation of more than 2 °C within 20 seconds or sudden precipitation.
