What is cold storage?
Cold storage refers to keeping the private key on a medium that is not connected to the internet. One option is a paper wallet, but these can be complicated to handle. Hardware wallets, on the other hand, provide cold storage while still being easy to use. This is made possible by storing the private key on a special chip called a secure element, which the computer cannot access even when connected. Transactions are always signed locally on the BitBox, and the private key never leaves it. This makes hardware wallets the safest and most efficient solution for storing private keys.
