Babysense 7 is the latest model of breathing monitor featuring a new control unit and enhanced sensor sensitivity. Babysense 7 is the successor to Babysense 5, which was discontinued on August 31, 2017. Babysense 7 is a medically approved sensor mat for respiratory monitoring, most commonly chosen by parents. It is suitable for home use, certified, and approved as a Class IIb medical device. The patented sensor technology detects micro-movements that cannot be seen or heard by ordinary monitoring devices. If the baby does not move for more than 20 seconds or if the device detects fewer than 10 breaths per minute, an audible alarm sounds and the red alarm light turns on. Two large sensor plates provide comprehensive coverage for cribs, travel cribs, or bassinets. These alarm functions provide critical time to respond appropriately.
