Product details
From Ethernet to Fiber Optics
The media converter switch can be connected to a network in a line topology (Daisy Chain). The maximum number of cameras that can be connected in this chain depends on the bitrate generated per camera. The speed is limited between the camera and the media converter switch by the 100-Mbit connection, and between the media converter switches themselves by the 1,000-Mbit connection. The AXIS T8604 does not have IGMP snooping functionality.
For connections over long distances
Fiber optics are commonly used in urban surveillance systems, at airports, and other large installations where there is a risk of lightning strikes or where long distances need to be covered. For maintenance and monitoring of the cameras, installers and system integrators can connect installation monitors and laptops to the AXIS T8604 on-site.
Easy conversion and installation
The media converter switch is compatible with all Axis network video products. An Axis camera or encoder is connected to the AXIS T8604 via RJ-45. Through two SFP ports, installers can flexibly and cost-effectively connect cameras to the network over long distances. Additionally, extra cameras or a laptop can be temporarily connected via the RJ45 ports for on-site system maintenance.
