The attenuation controller is used where there is a signal that is too strong from a cable or satellite source. Picture disturbances such as frozen images or heavy pixelation are indications of a signal level that is too high for the reception tuner. The coaxial connector allows the attenuator to be easily screwed on without additional adapters, either before or after the amplifier or receiver.
