Franz Marc (1880 - 1916) is today considered one of the most significant German Expressionists of the early 20th century. As a co-founder of the editorial community "Der Blaue Reiter," he distanced himself from traditional concepts of art and transitioned from the naturalistic style of his early works to greater abstraction. Influenced by Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh, and Robert Delaunay, Franz Marc began to paint in a more expressive and vibrant manner. His extensive body of work, despite his early death, is characterized by the recurring theme of animal representations. Notable examples include "The Tiger," "The Yellow Cow," and "Blue Horse I," which are among his most famous paintings.
