The style of the French artist George Barbier (1882–1932) is unmistakable: elegant, graceful ladies with slender silhouettes, modern fashion and cars – depicted in a graphic two-dimensionality reminiscent of Japanese woodcuts. Barbier was one of the most sought-after painters, illustrators, and fashion designers of the Art Deco movement. He illustrated works by Charles Baudelaire and Paul Verlaine, among others, and designed the famous stage costumes for the Ballets Russes. This postcard set brings together some of Barbier's most well-known works – a must-have for any Art Deco fan.
