Commissioned on May 7, 1765, HMS Victory gained fame by becoming Admiral Nelson's flagship during the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The victory in this battle ended Napoleon's quest for naval dominance, but it cost Admiral Nelson his life.

Prior to this, she participated in many significant engagements against Spanish and French fleets and is now the oldest active ship in the Royal Navy still in service, serving as the flagship of the Portsmouth Command.

Having been restored to the condition and appearance she had at Trafalgar, she can now be visited by guests from around the world in all her glory at her home in Portsmouth.
