The model is a replica of the A-6E Tram Intruder aircraft. The A-6 Intruder was introduced in the mid-1960s as a ground attack aircraft to replace outdated planes like the propeller-driven A-1 Skyraider and A-3 Skywarrior. The Grumman Corporation developed and designed the A-6A according to the specifications of the U.S. Navy as an all-weather medium attack aircraft with two jet engines, capable of being deployed from American aircraft carriers. The so-called "Intruder" was characterized by a robust fuselage and a side-by-side cockpit configuration for the pilot and the weapons officer. The A-6E was the final attack version of the "Intruder," enhanced in avionics and attack systems, particularly in the version known as TRAM. This allowed for more effective mission execution in any weather, making it deadlier in detecting and suppressing enemy targets. Thanks to its hardpoints under the wings, the A-6E Intruder could carry an impressive offensive armament, including conventional bombs, laser-guided Paveway bombs, Harpoon anti-ship missiles, and HARM anti-radiation missiles. It actively participated in combat operations during the Desert Storm campaign, both from ground bases and from U.S. Navy carriers.
