The Opel Blitz project was developed with the aim of producing a robust and reliable commercial vehicle on a large scale that could be used for various applications. Opel began production of the first trucks in its Rüsselsheim plant in the early 1930s, characterized by a typical American layout. Thus began the story of a great success that evolved until the mid-1970s. Due to its structural characteristics, the Opel Blitz was also used by the Wehrmacht during World War II in both the 4x2 and 4x4 versions. However, its fame was solidified by its significant commercial success in civilian use. After the war, the Opel Blitz was also essential in supporting dealers, craftsmen, and industrialists in Germany with their reconstruction efforts. Numerous equipped versions were also produced, including a fire truck version.
