The Jaguar XJ 220 became famous for its top speed of 350 km/h. The record for the fastest production car was held by the XJ 220 from 1992 to 1994. The origin story of this sports car is also unusual, as it emerged from an idea by the unofficial Jaguar employee project group "The Saturday Club." A concept vehicle was presented at the British Motor Show in 1988. This eventually led to the Jaguar XJ 220, with the first model hitting the market in 1991. The lightweight and extremely powerful sports car also impressed with a design that was very modern for its time. International rock stars and wealthy businesspeople were enthusiastic buyers of this prestigious vehicle.
