Sound card

I have 2 pairs of speakers (shelf speakers, sound very nice) 1 pair with 3.5 jack or cinch, the other with optical Toslink. Now I'm looking for an external sound card (e.g. USB-C) with which I can output the sound from Win and Mac (depending on what I'm using) to both pairs simultaneously. The speakers are active (i.e. have their own amplifier). What does the Community recommend that is guaranteed to work? Thanks for your feedback and LG

Hello Community, a few years ago there were sound cards where you could make audio recordings of the PC, i.e. what I was listening to (audio from the browser, sounds from software etc.). Does anyone know with which sound cards this still works today? What feature or keyword do I need to look out for on the sound card products to recognise that I can make such recordings? Edit: "I don't care anymore", but unfortunately you can't delete a discussion here. I've ordered a Z906 again because it really does seem to be practically the only option left. Amplifier manufacturers have given up on multichannel inputs, and sound card manufacturers don't want to offer other outputs. Two worlds that don't want to talk to each other. Surround sound on the PC seems to be practically extinct because, like "3D TVs" or VR, nobody wants it (anymore). Tant pis. I have an older Sound Blaster card in my PC (ZxR), to which I had previously connected a Logitech Z906 5.1 system. The latter has now given up the ghost after a good 7 years, and instead of simply replacing it, I wanted to look around for alternatives. Unfortunately, nobody in the PC sector really seems to be interested in surround sound, and 5.1 PC speaker systems are a dying breed. Most manufacturers have discontinued their products (Teufel, Klipsch, Edifier, ...) and the Logitech system is almost the only one still in production. So I thought: add an AV receiver and put together my own speaker system. But then comes the next problem: how on earth am I supposed to connect an AV receiver to my sound card? My sound card has 6 separate analogue RCA outputs for front/surround/centre/sub, or optical S/PDIF via TOSLINK. However, 99% of current AV receivers only have stereo RCA inputs. Everything else has to go in via HDMI, S/PDIF coaxial or TOSLINK. Optical is probably not an option, as there is not enough bandwidth for 6 PCM channels. You rarely read online about people claiming to have achieved surround sound if the sound card and receiver somehow just happened to agree on the same proprietary Dolby compression standard. But that really does seem to be a lottery. And my sound card doesn't have an HDMI or coaxial output, and when I look at the current cards from Creative and Asus, there's no such thing today either. So what should I do? How can I get decent surround sound on my PC these days without blowing my budget? The cheapest AV receiver I could find at Galaxus that still has RCA surround inputs is a discontinued Marantz model for 900 Fr. A friend advised me to simply buy a secondhand, older receiver, as these inputs were still standard until a few years ago. That would probably be my best chance now, but somehow it can't be right that you have to find a 15-year-old receiver for surround sound on a brand new PC?

Hello everyone, We are looking for an external USB sound card that accepts an input signal with 16 bit samples and 16,000 Hz, or where the format can be set to these values. The sound card must also be compatible with the ASIO4ALL driver (https://asio4all.org/) and accept small input buffer sizes (64 or 128 samples). We are currently using the HyperX Cloud II sound card (https://www.amazon.de/gp...), but it only seems to be available with the headphones. Can anyone recommend a suitable product? Hello all I bought a clip microphone Sharkon SM1 at Digitec but when connected to the PC internal sound card the microphone is too quiet ! Questions to those who know more than me which external audio interface or soundcard should I buy to amplify the microphone? So what should I buy (audio interface USB or external soundcard or ??) so that I can amplify the microphone or is there something like a microphone amplifier for PC- USB. Hello all, I have a desktop computer (acer) and a set of speakers (Maxxtro 401238) connected to it via USB. The speakers are constantly hissing/choking when they are not switched off. I connected them to a laptop for comparison, there the noise is also present - it sounds as if the otherwise audible noises of the respective device are passed through the USB cable to the speakers and rather amplified. It is exactly the same at other USB connections of the computer and an extension cable did not help either. For test purposes, I connected the USB plug for the power supply with an adapter to an ordinary power plug and connected the speakers with a 3.5 mm audio cable instead. Of course, Windows does not recognise the speakers separately. This has brought an improvement, but the noise has not gone away. However, it now seems more like a rattling and is somewhat more constant. I have now considered buying another set of speakers and/or an additional sound card. Can I assume that this will bring about an improvement? I don't want to use the PCI card option, as it would be permanently installed and could therefore not be used as an alternative on the laptop. - First I came across the "StarTech 7.1 Channel" and "Terratec Aureon 7.1". Both are quite cheap, but seem to be usable to me. - The "Creative Sound BlasterX G6 (USB)" is certainly also good and has been rated as very good by several people. However, it is unclear to me whether the massively higher price would also offer a greater benefit for me. - An even more expensive version would be the "Terratec DMX 6fire", which is not available at Digitec. I found it at Steg. The advantage of this sound card would be that I could also connect my electric piano via MIDI. But I wonder if the price is justified because of that. Regardless of the sound card I choose, is it advisable to buy another set of speakers? If so, which one can you recommend? It shouldn't be very expensive and the speakers shouldn't be really big either. Next to my two 24" screens and a printer, there is unfortunately hardly any space available on the table. Basically, I am considering the "Logitech Z150 (Stereo)". However, the performance is at the lower limit for me. In comparison, the Logitech Z333 set would be better, but I would use it without the subwoofer if possible. I hope someone can give me suitable advice before I make an unnecessary and perhaps nonsensical purchase. Kind regards Cornelia

The intended use is co-op gaming (Ghost Recon: Breakpoint and maybe a little series, but that's secondary). I own a Beyerdynamic Custom Studio with 80 Ohm including a V-Moda Boom Mic. Now I want to drive the headphones with a sound card. I still have the ancient but good Creative Gigaworks S750 7.1 system in use, which sound card is still compatible with Windows 10 64 bit? My SB X-Fi Elite Pro card also still works, but probably not on Windows 10...

Dear Reader I currently use the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones. I use them to listen to music, watch films and videos or play video games. Hello together, I have the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 2nd gen headset and currently the Asus Xonar DX sound card (or something like that) and I'm not sure if the sound card supports the full sound quality of the headset. What can you tell me about this? Have I set the sound card incorrectly? (What can be set wrong, I have tried various settings). Or would you recommend a different sound card that is better suited to the headset? I recently bought a new mainboard for my future new PC (unfortunately a few parts are still missing), namely the "MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON AC" and I have no idea whether the onboard card is perhaps better than what I have so far? Hello all, I'm looking for a sound card that supports Dolby Digital Plus (e.g. surround on Netflix), but I can't find this on any of the cards in the range, can they all do this or is it so rare? I need the card for films and music and it should have good quality and support as many surround formats as possible. Thank you very much!

Hello everyone! Thanks in advance for your tips on my following question: My onboard sound is scratching, is probably close to end of life. If I bring a separate sound card or even an external USB sound card into play, can I still connect my Steinberg USB interface (Cl 1) with active monitors to the PC (USB) and the sound will then be processed by the new sound card?

Hello all I have been using a Pioneer VSX-922 receiver with the optical S/PDIF output of my mainboard (onboard sound card) for some time now to fill my room with sound and also for my headphones. Since my headphones are constantly getting better (and more expensive) I wanted to know if a USB DAC or a good sound card would be worthwhile. I don't assume that the digital output of a sound card will be better as it's a digital signal but I'm not sure how it looks with the headphones. Do you have any experience or literature on this?

No sound in certain games Good evening dear Digitec Comunity:) A week ago, I put together my first gaming PC. Everything is running well so far. But today I encountered the following problem: I connected a Logitech sound system to the PC via a 3.5mm jack. I played a bit of The Witcher 3, sound etc. everything was great. Windows system sounds, YouTube videos etc. also sound through the sound system. However, when I tried to play a few rounds of Battlefront, there was no sound at all. I then tried various other games (Escape from Tarkov, Battlefield 4): all no sound. The games I play via Steam all have sound, but those from Origin or other providers do not. But if I select the monitor as the audio source, I have sound in all games. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? The drivers are all up to date. Graphics card: MSI Geforce GTX 1060 Gaming X 6G, connected via DisplayPort. Monitor: AOC Agon AG241QG Sound card OnBoard (MSI B350 Tomahawk as mainboard) I would like to discuss the problem here before I buy a sound card and see if that would solve the problem. What do I need to connect passive speakers to my PC, I didn't want to slap a huge AV receiver on my desk if possible. Is there also something smaller? It only needs to make the audio signal usable for passive speakers, no wifi connection for music streams, only an input for aux (or opt) and out for the speakers.

Hi community I have a question about the Controlling of Sound Exit ports. I want to send out the music I'm playing on YouTube on 3 Exit ports. They are a HDMI, DisplayPort and on a Bluetooth Adapter. At the Moment it is only possible to Chose one primary Exit device. I don't know if it helps to have a second Soundcard. I searched for a Software solution but didn't find any Thing. It would be cool if their were more possibilities from Windows to manage the sound. Can any body help at this problem? I want to open youtube on my pc and let the music play from my tv, my sound system connected with Bluetooth and the PC Monitor Speakers. Hey guys, I have some really cool speakers from Quadral that I have left over. However, I still need my avreceiver for the new boxes in the living room, so I would like to know if there is a card that makes passive boxes directly usable on the PC.
