Can the camera be operated via a standard USB power supply (such as for a mobile phone)? Would like to install it in a hut

Yes, that should work. The camera itself has a microUSB connection with 5V at 1.0 A. A corresponding USB adapter for plugging into the socket is already included in the scope of delivery.
