iRobot Roomba j7+
Robot vacuum
I started with 5-star review, but:
Update after 1 week:
side brush does not work anymore, returned to digitec and waiting for a new Roomba :(
Update after 2 weeks:
Second Roomba works better so far :)
Update after 2 weeks and 2 days:
Side brush does not work anymore :(
Update after 3 weeks:
I had to try again because my daughter would have missed him.
The third Roomba works fine... . My daughter is happy... I am happy... Everyone is happy 🙂
Update after 3 weeks and 3 days:
Side brush is sometimes stopping, and it is not spinning as fast as before :(
Update after 4 weeks:
Looks like it does not make sense to try another one from Digitec, waiting for new motor from irobot service...
Update after 4 weeks, 1 day:
I got new motor, there was no instruction how to replace it, so it took about 1 minute...
Now It works... and the new has much less resistance...testing in progress, hopefully it is going to work now...
Update after 5 weeks:
Still works :)
But it is interesting that this one is not sending me pictures of found obstacles... The first two did, but maybe it is a new firmware bug...
I am happy with the robot, but I am really frustrated about the quality of the product..
Update after 8 weeks?
Brush is still working, but I am not getting any imagines from this robot (I tried reset and factory reset) it is only showing: "something went wrong. Obstacle area review will normally appear here"
I did not have such problem with 2 first Roomba I had..... And I try resetting and factory reset... 😑
update after 16 weeks?
factory reset without map restoration fixed problem with pictures, now everything seems to work finally :D

Hi Jag!
Thank you for your review. We look forward to the update once you have familiarised yourself further with the device.
Many greetings,
Your iRobot Team
Hello Jag
Thanks for the update on your review. It is a pity that you have now reduced your number of stars from 5 to 1 due to a problem that is anything but normal. According to your explanation, it is a problem with the side brush module. This can be replaced by yourself or by us in our service centre in Vordemwald. Afterwards your Roomba j7+ should work properly again and the problem should not be present anymore. We would be pleased if you contact us directly so that we can help you and you can get an idea of your Roomba j7+ again :) We're sure you'll be impressed with its cleaning performance and great features.
We look forward to hearing from you by email to service@irobotics.ch or by phone on +41 62 746 06 74.
Best regards,
Your iRobot Team

Hi Irobot_schweiz,
Yes, I am receiving your emails and I really appreciate your willing to help!
I just don’t like the idea that my brand new, expensive robot need to be sent to repair just after leaving the shop… especially when the shop is about 600 meters from my home and it is much easier for me to just replace it when it is not working…
But now it looks like the whole series in Digitec may have problems with that side brush module... so replacing it again does not make sense…
Is it still and issue? I think so… sometimes it works, never on the carpet and after being stopped it is not starting anymore unless I help...
https://www.youtube.com/watch
So it is still better than completely dead like last time, but nothing compare to first 2 days… when it was spinning much more faster and everywhere….
Now I am considering if want my money back or I should repair it…. I really love the robot, but I am afraid about quality of the components… ☹
Hi Jag!
Thank you for your feedback. We can understand your frustration and of course it is not in our interest that our customers have problems with a device, no matter if it is new or already older.
However, we have to disagree with your statement that all j-series robots are affected. This is definitely not the case.
Regarding the carpet; If it has trouble with the carpet, we would like to ask you to delimit this area as a prohibited zone. Depending on the height or type of carpet, there may be problems. You can add a restricted area to your map under zones.
Thank you for your email to our Service Team, we will be happy to contact you directly regarding your side brush module.
Best regards,
Your iRobot Team
Hi,
I am not saying that all J7+ has a problem, I only found limited number of complains in the internet so it is more likely limited subset which happened to be in Digitec or maybe I am extremely unlucky...
Carpet shouldn't be a problem, it is quite short and dense and Roomba 780 never had problem on it...
but it does not matter, because side brush now never start by its own now... even in the kitchen etc...
plus this carpet is the main reason I need Roomba, so no go zone is no go... (but as I said, I really don't expect this to be a problem)
We have been using the device for 3 weeks and there are no problems with the side brush. Works great and we love this little helper.
@Mary_
I am happy to hear that your robot works correctly, but have you bought in here? Most positive reviews here are from people who did not bought it in Digitec/Galaxus this is really suspicious....
nevertheless, I will receive new motor soon and I hope this is going to end this topic... I just want to have working roomba :)
