Recommended in combination with Unifi and Gigabit Internet.
As a professional IT service provider, I was skeptical of the product at first: what does this box deliver for this small amount?
In short: it is the perfect complement if you already use Unifi components and CloudKey anyway (and especially the Unifi WLAN is absolutely top class). It lets you manage everything via a central interface. Setting up VLANs, for example, is extremely simple: provisioning automatically takes care of everything on the router and, if necessary, switch and access points from Ubiquity. Detailed configurations such as port forwarding are done in the specific router configuration.
In combination with a Gigabit connection (e.g. Fiber7) it does not disappoint and delivers Gigabit routing/NAT throughput.
It may not be able to do some things perfectly via GUI yet, but a lot can still be done via the command line. And to Dintenrolf's comment: I would only ever do IPSec site-to-site with static IPs anyway. But what about OpenVPN?Pro

For the price and scope of delivery, a very good device.
As you would expect from Ubiquiti UniFi, centralised management. The USG integrates perfectly into the UniFi environment.
The firewall settings are still in the beta phase. If Ubiquiti expands the range of functions, this will be a very good device.Pro

Ingenious device
Ingenious device for the layman as well as for the network professional (I would position myself in between). New functions are constantly being added (in terms of software with the controller).
With my UPC connection 500Mbit/s / 50Mbit/s the full performance comes through. My feeling is that the VPN speed is a bit too slow, but I don't have any references for comparison. It is also possible that the limitation is due to the encryption and is no longer possible (I know too little about this).

for all those who want a fast and stable network and have had enough of the weaknesses of the universal router. takes a little time until everything is up and running, ideally still requires the cloud key. together with other unifi products, e.g. the access points or the switches, a top thing!

Good HW firewall that quickly reaches its limits
The USG can offer a maximum of 85Mb/s throughput with Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), which is rarely sufficient for today's Internet lines. My USG also gets very warm. This worried me a bit at first, but it doesn't seem to be a problem.
The management via the Unifi Controller is very user-friendly, but also very "basic". It lacks some functions that can be configured via the console, but some Linux skills are required.
All in all a purchase recommendation for "beginners". For more demanding users, however, I would reach for an alternative such as the Dream Machine Pro.
