On Saturday, the Digitec shop in Zurich was the place to be. The best Swiss "Tekken" players battled it out for victory in a playground session.

The big Playground Session with "Tekken 8" took place in the Digitec shop in Zurich on Saturday. 28 "Tekken" pros battled for victory in an intense mini-tournament - and for great prizes in the form of Digitec vouchers for the first three places. The whole thing was commentated by "Tekken" expert Ragebrownie.

Exciting matches with plenty of emotion

Before the tournament began, the participants received a briefing in front of the Digitec shop. Attendances were checked, final questions clarified and the players were given the opportunity to play a few practice rounds at the game stations.

The tournament was played in a double elimination bracket. All participants were able to play at least two games. Those who lost went from the winners' bracket to the losers' bracket. In the grand final, the winner of the winner's bracket (ChiggenMcNugget) played against the winner of the loser's bracket (chucky z).

All matches were played in a best-of-three format - with the exception of the final matches, which were played in best-of-five mode. Only the loser was allowed to change character. After each set, the stage had to be randomly selected again.

The matches at the beginning of the bracket were played in parallel, the matches later in the tournament were played one after the other. Eliminated and waiting players as well as spectators were able to follow the matches on a separate screen. There was loud cheering, shouting and jumping around. The atmosphere was great.

A beaming winner

In the end, ChiggenMcNugget came out on top against chucky z in the final. He was delighted with his victory and praised the atmosphere in the Digitec shop: "It was great to hear people cheering and enjoying themselves while playing. That motivates me to get better. The Swiss 'Tekken' community is unique."

On his way to the final, the semi-final match in the Winners Bracket against the best Swiss player, Kirakira, was a particularly tight affair: "I prepared and practised for the event. It feels good to win. Especially against Kira, who is a top international player. I see myself as his rival and it motivates me to play against him".

ChiggenMcNugget also had a tip for aspiring "Tekken" players in the winner's interview: "It's important not to give up if you lose a round. You have to be mentally strong to come back, that's the most important thing".

The winner ChiggenMcNugget will receive a Digitec voucher worth CHF 300:
