Now in our shop: The Orbi 870 router from Netgear

With Wi-Fi 7, tri-band technology and wide wireless coverage, the Orbi 870 series is a high-end network system. It enables wireless speeds of up to 21 gigabits per second.
With the Orbi systems, Netgear offers powerful mesh routers for larger homes. The Orbi 870 closes the gap between the Orbi 770 and the high-end router Orbi 970.
You get the devices in three versions. The three-pack includes the router and two satellites to extend the Wi-Fi coverage to up to 600 square metres. The two-pack includes the router and one satellite. You can purchase these separately - each one offers around 200 additional square metres of coverage.
Triband and interference management
The Orbi 870 uses Wi-Fi 7 and supports tri-band. This means that your devices can use the Wi-Fi 7 frequency bands 2.4, 5 and 6 gigahertz. In multi-link mode, the 5 and 6 gigahertz bands can be used simultaneously. The manufacturer promises that this will avoid network congestion.
The router uses "preamble puncturing" to minimise interference with other Wi-Fi networks. If other radio sources interfere with individual channels, the technology does not switch them off but keeps them open anyway, which should prevent network bottlenecks.
Up to 21 Gbit/s are possible via WLAN
According to the manufacturer, Wi-Fi speeds of up to 21 gigabits per second are possible with the router. A 10 Gbit/s connection is available on the router for connecting to the Internet. For devices that you want to connect to the router via Ethernet, it offers four 2.5 Gbit/s connections. The satellite for mesh expansion is also equipped with four 2.5 Gbit/s connections.
You can set up up to three Wi-Fi networks: the main network for your computers and mobiles, a guest network and a separate IoT network for your Internet-enabled household devices. The IoT (Internet of Things) includes smart lights, sensors, switches, sockets and robot vacuum cleaners. By outsourcing to a separate network, the communication of these devices should not reduce the bandwidth for streaming and gaming.
The Orbi 870 can manage up to 150 devices. According to Netgear, it is compatible with all internet providers.
