Good, a bit difficult to upgrade

CPU: Fast. Although an i3, the CPU is much faster than expected. Has only 2 cores, but performance per core is very good (beats i7-3770). The onboard graphics card is sufficient for regular desktop use, but not for gaming.

It
has no SSD, just a mechanical hard drive. It is OK but a bit noisy.

There is also a keyboard and mouse.

I decided to make some upgrades and install a dedicated graphics. A small graphics card, such as Gigabyte GTX 960 ITX OC at 200 CHF, fits with no problems and can handle most modern games. However a stronger power supply is needed (also, the Lenovo power supply has no power cable for graphics cards).

Upgrading the power supply is possible. There is sufficient room in the case to install a Corsair RM450; it's a bit crowded because the case is small and most power supplies come with really long cables, so I had to push the cables to a side and tie them to make sure they are not close to the CPU fan or the RAM blades.

There was a problem: the Lenovo motherboard does not use a standard ATX power connector; instead it has a proprietary 14-pin connector, not compatible with the power supplies found on the market. Lenovo does not sell adapters, but there are adapters available online (not from digitec). The adapter is called "ATX-Stromadapter 24-pin Netzteil > Lenovo Medion 14-pin Mainboard", price around 10 CHF. I got one and it works fine. But if you don't want to install a graphics card, you don't need to worry about all this.

Pro

  • fast CPU
  • plenty of ports in both front and back
  • small case
  • room for a 18cm graphics card, maybe also bigger ones
  • room for a stronger power supply if needed (but needs ATX adapter)

Contra

  • no wifi (but you can use a USB card)
  • non-standard ATX motherboard connector for power (only matters if you change the power supply)
