Great for ski touring and winter hiking/mountaineering

I have a Garmin eTrex 30 and it's impossible to use it when it's in your pocket as the buttons are pressed accidentally. Using a phone for navigation often requires taking gloves off in cold temperatures which isn't something I like doing.

Having the eTrex on the shoulder straps of my rucksacks makes it easy to look at without taking gloves off, and finally I can use my eTrex for ski touring, winter hiking and mountaineering. mehr
