The Fenix 5Plus is the ultimate all-in-one sports watch and works exactly as you'd expect. It has usual GPS, motion and heart rate tracking functionalities, but also a quite efficient mapping widget for hikes and even Spotify. Garmin connect works decently well, and after some googling it's easy to set up pretty much everything you can reasonably expect. Also battery life is very decent, requiring only a couple of charges per week.
The feature I found most useful is the Mapping widget. Once you manage to download a GPX track into the watch, it is very easy to follow it with just a glance. And if you get more than 20 meters off track the watch will vibrate to let you know.
Some minor downsides:
+ The silicone wirst band seems to get used quite fast. IT also has a tendency to stick to skin. I was planning on buying other wristbands anyway but I expected the original to be a bit better .
+ Minor software glitches, eg one day it warned me several times that "Spotify has been installed"... although I had installed it days ago.
+ It is not possible to download detailed information, such as detailed sleep zones, only total hours of sleep.
+ I know it's probably too much to expect but the device shows some small inaccuracies on floors climbed, compass, etc.
+ The temperature widget displays a sort of of average between body and external temperatures, no sure what it is supposed to indicate.
+ The auto light on gesture works erratically.
+ It took me a while to figure out how to upload GPX tracks, and had to install a 3rd party app to do so - seems to me like Garmin could have made this much easier.…mehr
