Yes, we have also had bad experiences with this printer in terms of wifi. Connecting to the MESH environment via WPS does not work, and certainly not via the HP app. We were only able to connect the printer to the desktop PC via the Windows settings, but it is not visible on other devices via Wi-Fi. Our second HP printer HP Laserjet Pro M405 works very well, must be a problem with the 7005!
Hello Galaxus/Digitec, I bought the HP Smart Tank 7005 printer from you and am very satisfied so far. If you have a direct contact to HP, please inform them that there are still some network bugs in the current firmware (which are also causing trouble in online forums):
1) If you switch off Bluetooth the system usually freezes and loses WiFi setup. You currently have to leave Bluetooth switched on.
2) If you connect the WiFi by pressing the WPS button, it often loses the WiFi setup and connection after restarting the printer. Instead, you have to set up the WiFi manually or via the HP app by entering the WiFi key so that it remains saved.
3) The scanner's optical sensor bar flashes every second even in sleep mode with the lid closed. This is probably a readiness mode, but it's pretty unnecessary and stupid. This is also known from some other HP printers/scanners.
These bugs could be fixed with a firmware update. Otherwise a really great printer with large ink tanks, paper cassette, duplex etc.
Thanks and regards, S.
I can only confirm the described annoyance! The first time I somehow managed to get the printer offline after about 30 minutes (via router ex Cablecom router). The second time, after 2 hours of frustration, I went down to the basement and got the old Brother b/w laser printer and it printed immediately without any problems, but logically not in colour. Before I was about to return the bitchy thing to Digitec, I connected it to a laptop via USB, et voila, it printed again. And even more surprisingly, it was then able to reconnect to the router. Explanation? I also find the HP app mostly useless and in great need of improvement, because on the laptop it only worked with the Windows 10 on-board tools. I also think it's a shame that HP saved 2 francs to give it a LAN connection (saving in the wrong place?).
As a former buyer of an HP printer (not the one pictured), your question has been forwarded to me. I am speaking as a private individual and have no connection with Galaxus. And my answer is short: HP printers have many defects. Just one example: when scanning directly, the printer only recognised the letter format ... and cut off the documents at the bottom every time. I contacted HP several times about this and other issues - each time without an answer and the errors persisted. They remained until I got rid of the trouble by selling the printer. I have been using a Brother inkjet printer for some time now. It can do more for the same price and is superior to the HP printer in all respects (e.g. speed). Annoyance gave way to enthusiasm. Greetings, P.
