Do the Ubiquiti cameras actually record permanently or only when motion is detected?
And is there a kind of privacy mode that prevents you from being recorded?
And do you necessarily need an NVR or a UNAS Pro to save the recordings?
Can you access the recordings remotely?

By default, the camera only records when motion is detected, but you can also activate continuous recording in the UniFi Protect system if desired. Recording then takes place either when motion is detected or around the clock, depending on the setting.
There is a privacy mode that allows you to hide certain areas in the image so that no recordings are made there. This is practical if, for example, you do not want a certain area of the room to be recorded.
To save the recordings, you need either a microSD card directly in the camera or a UniFi Protect Network Video Recorder (NVR) or a UNAS Pro. The camera supports both, but an NVR or UNAS Pro with UniFi Protect is required for remote access to the recordings.
You can access the recordings remotely via the UniFi Protect app as long as the camera is connected to an NVR or UNAS Pro. Without NVR/UNAS Pro, remote access to the recordings is not possible as the microSD card can only be read locally.
