On my X99 Deluxe-2, the M2x4PCIe card runs perfectly with a 2TB SSD. Compatibility with an X79 motherboard is probably not guaranteed, as ASUS notes that the card "Supports ASUS Z170/H170/X99/Z97/H97/B85 series motherboard". It is also noted that the card requires a PCIe 3.0 interface. If necessary, ask ASUS directly!

The prerequisite for installing the Asus M2 x4 PCIe mini adapter is a free PCI-E slot ... ASUS X79-Deluxe has several of these ...
3 x PEG 16x (electrical 16x, dual 16x / 16x, triple 16x / 8x / 8x; PCIe 3.0) 1 x PEG 16x (electrical 4x) ... please check motherboard layout ...
It is important to know which protocols (AHCI, MVMe) ASUS X79-Deluxe supports to install a M.2 SSD. The M.2 adapter serves as a replacement for missing M.2 slots. With the newer motherboards X99 chipset, there is no problem, there are already onboard M.2 slots, on the other hand, the system also recognises the new hardware on the M.2 adapter.

I own an Asus P9X79 Deluxe motherboard (chipset X79). Unfortunately, I have not managed to get the card to work. Windows 7 reports that no driver could be found for this device. There are also no drivers for this card on the Asus website. It must be the case that the chipsets for which the card is made can manage on their own without having to load an additional driver.
