7. Sonor Benny Greb Vintage Brass 13x5.75 signature snaredrum
Benny Greb is definitely one of the most controversial solo drummers of our generation. And we are fans of the man and his playing. Even if Sonor were to release a Benny Greb snare, we would still include it in our collection! Two is just right, because in addition to the long-term beech wood version, the Mark-2 collection has been expanded with this brass version. Just like the beech snare, this brass version measures 13x5.75. A somewhat unusual (small) size, but don’t be fooled, because what a powerhouse of a snare drum this is! It is especially rich in tone and very balanced. A new feature for both Greb snares is the two internal dampers, which can be placed independently against the batter head using the functional monorails. This way, you can very precisely determine the degree of dryness of this snare. Hooray! Internal dampers have become reusable again! The 1.2 mm thick vintage brass shell has an incredibly roasted look, and with the offset Sonor vintage lugs, the picture is complete.
