    PC operating system

The operating system (often abbreviated as OS) is responsible for managing all system resources of a PC, such as RAM, SSDs and HDDs as well as input and output devices, and allocates these resources to the various programs on the computer. Therefore, the operating system can be considered as the link between software and hardware. It usually consists of a core, which is responsible for the hardware, and specific programs, which perform various tasks when the PC starts up. Device drivers are also loaded via the operating system.
