Zyxel XGS2210-28

Description

The XGS2210 series is a cost effective 10G uplink port switch with SFP+ 10G Fiber connection support meant to increase core and interserver capacity. With the increase in data rates from 11ac wireless, core traffic is increased to 10G to prevent bottlenecking at the switch. Whereas in the past 10G uplinks and ports have been too expensive to utilize frequently, the XGS2210 series is now a highly affordable and cost effective way for SMBs to upgrade to 10G between virtualized servers, backups, and between switches.more

Network switches

A network switch or switching hub is a computer networking device that connects network segments.
The term commonly refers to a network bridge that processes and routes data at the data link layer (layer 2) of the OSI model. Switches that additionally process data at the network layer (layer 3 and above) are often referred to as Layer 3 switches or multilayer switches.
The term network switch does not generally encompass unintelligent or passive network devices such as hubs and repeaters.
The first Ethernet switch was introduced by Kalpana in 1990.

Switch model

Specifies the design of the switch. Rack models often do not come with a rack mounting kit. This must be purchased separately.

19" rack
i

19" rack

A 19-inch rack is a standardized frame or enclosure for mounting multiple equipment modules. Each module has a front panel that is 19 inches (482.6 mm) wide, including edges or ears that protrude on each side which allow the module to be fastened to the rack frame with screws.

i

Rack Unit

A rack unit, U or RU is a unit of measure used to describe the height of equipment intended for mounting in a 19-inch rack or a 23-inch rack (The 19-inch (48.26 cm) or 23-inch (58.42 cm) dimension refers to the width of the equipment mounting frame in the rack, i.e. the width of the equipment that can be mounted inside the rack). One rack unit is 1.75 inches (44.45 mm) high.

Stackable Switch
i

Stackable Switch

A stackable switch is a network switch that is fully functional operating standalone but which can also be set up to operate together with one or more other network switches, with this group of switches showing the characteristics of a single switch but having the port capacity of the sum of the combined switches.

The term “stack” refers to the group of switches that have been set up in this way.

i

Management function

The switch has a management function. In addition to the basic switch functions, they also have control and monitoring functions that can also be based on information from layers higher than Layer 2, such as IP filtering, VLAN, prioritization for Quality of Service, routing and other functions that are helpful for monitoring and controlling a network. Depending on the manufacturer, these switches can be controlled via the command line, a web interface, special control software or a combination of these three options.
