The latest generation of ZyXEL Unified Security Gateways (USGs) enable anti-virus scans and attack blocking without slowing down bandwidth. Thanks to their all-in-one design with an integrated Wi-Fi controller,
the new models greatly reduce management efforts while enhancing the security of SMB networks. The firewall comes with a UTM PACK that includes the following services: Commtouch content filtering (CF), anti-spam (AS), anti-virus (AV) and 1-year intrusion detection and prevention (IDP).

With advanced SHA-2 encryption and IKEv2 support, they also provide a higher level of security and stability. The redesigned wizard now makes it easy to set up L2TP VPN communication. Simple client installations can be performed via the VPN Wizard. The VPN rule predefined on the USG can be taken over automatically by the user during installation. An interesting advantage: SSL VPN client support is now available for Mac OSX!
Intelligent applications
More than 3000 web applications from the categories social, game, business etc. are recognized, categorized and controlled automatically. It is possible to define individual security rules per user, prioritize the most common web applications with the Application Patrol function and provide a proactive defense against web-based attacks on the network. Bandwidth can be reserved for mission-critical applications, while unwanted streaming or file-sharing activities are restricted or even blocked.
Intrusion detection and prevention, IDP
ZyXEL's IDP solution minimizes false alarms through regular synchronization of malware signature databases and helps to block the entry of malicious code (backdoor). When the hardware is equipped with an IDP license, the USG can additionally monitor the data transmitted through the different zones.

The Kaspersky SafeStream II Gateway anti-virus solution blocks malicious code before it can enter the network. A new Highspeed Scanning Engine detects and blocks more than 650,000 viruses using Streambased Scanning technology. Kaspersky SafeStream II search filters analyze network traffic (web, e-mail, P2P, IM, etc.) to ensure that the network is safe from malware from an infected server and from a wide range of dangers.
