TP-LINK TL-RE355

Description

No more radio holes
You want full WLAN reception in the whole house? The AC1200 dual-band Gigabit WLAN Repeater RE355 puts an end to radio holes and extends the WLAN signal perfectly into previously unattainable or difficult to wire areas. It provides stable reception for computers, laptops, smartphones and media players throughout the house.

Ultra-fast WLAN speed with 802.11ac
The RE355 transmits according to the new WLAN standard 802.11ac, which is 3 times faster than 802.11n. Dual-band transmission at data rates of up to 1200 Mbps makes it the ideal device for smooth 4k HD video streaming, online gaming and large file downloads.

Simultaneous dual band at 2.4 and 5 GHz
The RE355 transmits on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. This simultaneous mode gives you the flexibility of two dedicated WLANs to which you can assign different purposes: Email, chat and surf at 2.4GHz while simultaneously playing online and streaming HD video at 5GHz.

Function as WLAN adapter
Via the RE355's Gigabit LAN port, wired network devices without their own WLAN function such as Blue-ray players, game consoles and Smart TVs can be integrated into the existing WLAN.

Simple commissioning
WLAN extension at the touch of a button
Commissioning the RE355 is child's play: To connect the repeater to the router, first press the WPS button on the router followed by the WPS button (RE) on the repeater. That's it!

You can then plug the repeater into any power outlet within the WLAN range without having to make any further settings.

i

Access points + Repeaters

In computer networking, a wireless access point (AP) is a device that allows wireless devices to connect to a wired network using Wi-Fi, or related standards. The AP usually connects to a router (via a wired network) if it's a standalone device, or is part of a router itself.

Wall
i

Wall

A wall (from Latin parietes) is a usually solid structure that defines and sometimes protects an area, but always verticle. Most commonly, a wall delineates a building and supports its superstructure, separates space in buildings into rooms, or protects or delineates a space in the open air. There are three principal types of structural walls: building walls, exterior boundary walls, and retaining walls.

Repeater

When two or more hosts ought to be connected with one another over the IEEE 802.11 protocol and the distance is too long for a direct connection to be established, a wireless repeater (also called wireless range extender) is used to bridge the gap.

Antenna gain
i

Antenna gain

Gain as a parameter measures the directionality of a given antenna. An antenna with a low gain emits radiation with about the same power in all directions, whereas a high-gain antenna will preferentially radiate in particular directions. Specifically, the Gain, Directive gain or Power gain of an antenna is defined as the ratio of the intensity (power per unit surface) radiated by the antenna in a given direction at an arbitrary distance divided by the intensity radiated at the same distance by an hypothetical isotropic antenna.

WPA-PSK
i

WPA-PSK

Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) is a certification program administered by the Wi-Fi Alliance to indicate compliance with the security protocol created by the Wi-Fi Alliance to secure wireless computer networks. This protocol was created in response to several serious weaknesses researchers had found in the previous system, Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP). PSK means that it is only for Pre-Shared-Key mode

,
WPA2-PSK
i

WPA2-PSK

The advanced protocol, certified through Wi-Fi Alliance's WPA2 program, implements the mandatory elements of 802.11i. In particular, it introduces a new AES-based algorithm, CCMP, that is considered fully secure. From March 13, 2006, WPA2 certification is mandatory for all new devices wishing to be certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance as "Wi-Fi CERTIFIED." PSK means that it is only for Pre-Shared-Key mode.

WEP
i

WEP

Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) is a security algorithm for IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. Introduced as part of the original 802.11 standard ratified in September 1999, its intention was to provide data confidentiality comparable to that of a traditional wired network.

802.11a
i

802.11a

IEEE 802.11a-1999 or 802.11a, is an amendment to the IEEE 802.11 specification that added a higher throughput of up to 54 Mbit/s by using the 5 GHz band.

802.11ac
i

802.11ac

IEEE 802.11ac is a wireless computer networking standard of 802.11, currently under development (Draft 4.0[1]), providing high-throughput wireless local area networks on the 5 GHz band.

More information...

Yes
802.11b
i

802.11b

802.11b has a maximum raw data rate of 11 Mbit/s and uses the same media access method defined in the original standard. 802.11b products appeared on the market in early 2000, since 802.11b is a direct extension of the modulation technique defined in the original standard. The dramatic increase in throughput of 802.11b (compared to the original standard) along with simultaneous substantial price reductions led to the rapid acceptance of 802.11b as the definitive wireless LAN technology.

802.11g
i

802.11g

This works in the 2.4 GHz band (like 802.11b) but operates at a maximum raw data rate of 54 Mbit/s, or about 19 Mbit/s net throughput. 802.11g hardware is fully backwards compatible with 802.11b hardware.

Yes
802.11n
i

802.11n

802.11n is a proposed amendment which improves upon the previous 802.11 standards by adding multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and many other newer features. Though there are already many products on the market based on Draft 2.0 of this proposal, the TGn workgroup is not expected to finalize the amendment until November 2008.
