Lens for the Highest Demands
The Samyang MF 85mm F1.4 MK2 is an evolution of the popular Samyang MF 85mm F1.4 lens, designed to meet the highest standards of manual photography enthusiasts. The second generation of this lens brings several innovations.
New: De-Click Function
With the De-Click function, you can eliminate the click stops of the aperture settings. The aperture can then be adjusted smoothly, allowing for precise and fine-tuning, which is also very useful for film work. Simply turn the silver ring of the lens to "Click" or "Free," depending on your needs.
New Aperture, New Design, and Weather Protection
The aperture in this second-generation lens features 9 rounded blades instead of the previous 6. This makes it easier to create round highlights in the bokeh. Additionally, starbursts that occur when the aperture is slightly open and a light source is in focus now have 18 rays instead of 12. The exterior of the lens has also been redesigned. The controls are textured and shaped to be dirt-resistant. This lens now also includes weather protection at the mount, which safeguards the interior from moisture and raindrops. While it is not waterproof, it can be safely used in rain or snow. Weighing in at only about 540 g and measuring approximately 7.5 cm in length, this lens is significantly lighter and more compact than other 85 mm lenses.
Unique Perspectives
With a field of view of 28.3° on full frame and 17.7° on APS-C, this lens primarily enables beautiful portrait photography. However, it is also suitable for travel and nature photography. The slight telephoto focal length allows the photographer to direct the viewer's attention to details that often go unnoticed in everyday life. The soft bokeh, which becomes more pronounced as the aperture opens, creates a pleasing background.
