    Buy Zoom H1

For most people (including me) the Zoom H1 pro will do. If you don't need to use 4 microphones at the same time, get rid of the H4n and buy the H1 or H2. If you don't know if you need the H4n pro, then you don't need it.

    Pro

    • Looks classier and more professional than an H1
    • The only advantages to the H1 are 4channel and matrix recording. Otherwise ONLY disadvantages
    • Recording of extremely high sound levels possible (>130db)

    Contra

    • Both AA batteries empty after 4h
    • Very big and clunky compared to the H1
    • Microphones not protected from falling as with H1 and H2
    • H4n Pro takes 20-60 seconds to switch on (h1 takes 1 second)
    • Expensive
    • Menus are cumbersome and confusing

    Big upgrade

After using the previous model H4N for a long time, I decided to buy the new version H4N Pro. Not only is it lighter, but there is much less noise. Everything sounds much clearer and cleaner than with the old version. It's not a placebo, it's a successful upgrade.

    Pro

    • Low noise preamplifier
    • Easy handling
    • Super price-performance
