Don’t buy it until they improve their application to make it usable.

It does not work with my iphone 8+ or my wife’s iphone 8. Basically the app does not connect to the gimbal, even so it detects the bluetooth connection. Great service from Digitec handling my return and Mr Ramadini from Customer Services was awsome.

Great gimball if you don't care for the Android app.

Very cool part. However, the Android app is the big drawback. Currently, I can advise many not to buy this gimball if you care much about the app (unless you have one of the officially supported phones). For me, the app crashes after a while, and makes me have to restart the phone before the camera (anywhere) works again. But I also have the ZUK Z2 Android, iPhones don't seem to have any problems.

    A disastrous surprise.

A good gimbal for little money for a good camera phone. Sounds good. One would think...
After 2 devices I had seen enough.

    Setup:
    Huawei p20Pro (CLT-L29) with Android 9.0.0.163

    ZYPlay 1.13.5 (Build 167)
    and firmware V.1.77
    on the Smooth 4

Stabilization is good and button operation works flawlessly.
The central dial takes some getting used to.

The zoom/AF wheel on the left runs freely and without a grid... very fine for adjusting one would think...
But the control of the mobile zoom is "jumpy" and unusable. Zooming in on an object looks like bag hopping. Zack you are one meter closer, and again Zack...
You have to work with "two-finger"-zoom or the "two-foot"-zoom. Otherwise no zoom is feasible.
And honestly: for that you need the oversized wheel, which always gets in your way, as much as parachutes on a bike.

The panorama function 180° and 3x3 is uncontrollable and unusable. For example: If the gimbal was used for a shot in the south and I want to shoot a pano in the east, it starts the pano in the south and works its way north from left to right. It also accepts a self-blocking at the 30° in which it cannot pan. Only after a complete reconnection and a restart of the app and the gimbal, he believes me that I want to make a pano from the east. The section is not cleanly controllable, but he makes it then at least.

The Vertigo effect is not cleanly saveable. Save states are to be programmed always anew. Really tedious. However, the function is described.

After a recording, the gimbal always jumps back to the normal function. He does not remain on the Timelapse or Motion Timelapse. If one needs several attempts for a Beautiful Motion Timelaps, not only a suitable change can be made,
but the whole programming has to be done over again.

In short: a manageable disaster. if you absolutely need a gimbal, you'll have to shell out money for it.
But I don't know if I would ever go back to the Zhiyun brand.

After all, everything is controlled via your ZYPlay app, and it's (to put it nicely) not even a beta yet....
It doesn't crash like DJI's Go app but it doesn't give me any usable added value when I have to struggle with features like that.

By the way: Filmic Pro was also tested in version 6.0.1 in this context.
The gimbal operators are not all supported though.

So I stay with the pure stabilized FullHD mobile phone recordings... They don't look bad either...
But the saying proves true once again: "He who buys cheap, buys 2 times.... " or just no more...

    Pro

    • Clean stabilization
    • Battery life is very good
    • Holds the phone reliably

    Contra

    • Big and heavy
    • Pano functions are a gamble
    • Unacceptable zoom control (jumping)
    • Save settings are suddenly gone in the app.
