    After intensive study of the various international...

    After intensively studying the various international reviews about this Sony/Zeiss lens, I took a little more time than is usually the case before buying it.
    With all the lab tests and quibbles the testers have had with     this lens at the highest quality level, you can also find some rather critical comments on the internet alongside all the praising reviews and video clips ....

    Of course, with a maximum aperture of F4, the lens has its limits when it gets dark. But that was never a problem for me.

    My personal conclusion after the purchase and several days (and evenings) of intensive testing, including comparison with the also excellent Sonnar T E 24mm F1.8 ZA, with which I use the T E 16-70 F4 ZA OSS zoom alternately:

    The Sony Vario-Tessar T E 16-70 F4 ZA OSS is a very good lens, especially in connection with a relatively light camera!

    It draws very accurately and sharply with high, natural image quality!
    The zoom range is ideal for almost all occasions.
    The maximum aperture of F4 is sufficient in almost every situation.
    Sharp images are no problem even with exposure times of 1/80 or slightly below.
    With its weight, the T E 16-70 F4 ZA OSS, like the E24mm F 1.8 ZA mentioned above, fits my Sony A6300 perfectly.

    I can only recommend this lens!

    It takes some getting used to, but after a hundred or so photos I like it more and more.

    I bought it mainly because of the good comments gleaned here and there on the Internet and because of the great price at Digitec. With a 10% voucher I paid just under 700 Frs, whereas it was 1000 Frs just about everywhere. I am very happy with it on my Sony A6000 and it allows me to make good images like with my old Nex5 camera. It is a bit heavy and one is a bit surprised by the zoom that one has to manoeuvre again manually (compared to the basic lens supplied).

    Small, practical, good

    Great always there / always on lens. Precise, acceptably fast autofocus, bokeh not top but perfectly ok. Close focusing distance for normal needs ok.
    Unfortunately, no direct switching on the lens manual / autofocus. That     seems to come with cheap lenses generally something out of fashion.
