I use the lens on a Canon EOS 7D (18MP)
The lens is worth every franc! I sold my Canon 17-55mm F2.8 IS USM for the Sigma and don't regret the sale.
The Sigma is just as sharp and already at F1.8!
It is a little limited in the telephoto range (e.g. a little short focal length for portraits).
Very nice landscape shots, full body portraits or night shots are possible.
The closest focusing distance also allows ok macro pictures. (Not to be compared with real macro lenses).
The autofocus is also comparable to the Canon. The hit rate is almost as good.
Lens flare (glare spots because of the sun) are hardly visible, they are not annoying.
Vignetting is also within limits, but can be seen at 18mm F1.8.
The lens also beats many fixed focal lengths in sharpness. For example, the zoom is sharper than the Sigma 20mm F1.8, sharper than the Sigma 24mm and 28mm F1.8. However, the new Sigma 35mm F1.4 will be even better in image quality than this zoom.
Conclusion: Best APS-C wide-angle!

I bought this lens for my Canon Eos600D and I have to say that it is a wonder. The pictures are beautiful and the large aperture allows to get out of complicated situations and/or to reduce the depth of field.
The lens is a bit heavy and bulky, but the finish is perfect!
I don't regret my purchase!
