    Storage is great!

We have 2 x a 5-bay HDD station and 1 x an 8-bay HDD station with 3TB disks from WD red in each slot ... and can only say: The storages are top!

My girlfriend and I have a cloud and streaming service running with them,
everything is attached to a Dell workstation (via eSATA) and has been running perfectly for around 2 years. I can't say anything great about the noise, i.e. noise emission. It's all in the office room, where we also listen to music and play on our normal computers and it doesn't bother us a bit, because our self-made computers with 3 GraKa each are louder than these HDD bays from Sharkoon.

The varnish or coating is really dust-attracting, but once you wipe it with a nano cloth and nothing sticks to it.

We have also had a Lian Li storage for us internally for about a year, but the power supply unit and a fan have already given up the ghost once.

    OUR CONCLUSION:
    >> The Bay from Sharkoon, regardless of whether it's the 5 or 8 series, is terrific!
    >> It has been running continuously for 2 years in 7x 24h operation via eSATA and has no dropouts whatsoever.
    >> The write rates for both are around 110 MB/s (for a 1x 10GB file transfer from the PC to the bay) in RAID 5 for the 5 or RAID 50 mode for the 8 HDD bay.

So far a top product, the only thing b...

So far a top product, the only thing that was a problem for me is the door, which is pushed open again by the first HDD tray.
I moved the HDD a bit backwards so the tray goes in deeper and it is closed.
    If the fan bothers
you, I can recommend one from noisblocker, but with at least 85m3/h airflow, a three-pin connector can be found on the lower board to the left of the 20-pin ATX connector.
Then you can set up the part anywhere, but for me it stays in the office.

I can't agree with my predecessor at all. If you intend to run the enclosure 24/7, then you should buy a server enclosure. However, you'll be approaching the matter in a completely different way in terms of price than with this enclosure. I am absolutely satisfied with it. I have 8x4 TB in operation, but not 24/7 and it runs and runs. My conclusion: TOP!
