    Conditional purchase recommendation

The mouse would be pretty awesome in and of itself with the swappable panel on the side. However, the software ruins everything. The account, which you have to make at Razor is absolutely superfluous and I do not see with my "limited" knowledge, why the software needs admin rights. In addition, it always crashes after the start. I haven't found a workaround yet (but everything works anyway).
Furthermore the mouse has its weak seconds/minutes, because it often doesn't keep the button click, which can be quite tedious with drag'n drop. Whether it's the panel or the software or the mouse itself I haven't figured out yet.
The removable panels are great. The 10-button panel is a bit of an overkill in my opinion, because at least I don't hit the keys reliably in the heat of the moment. The 7-button panel, on the other hand, I think is perfect. The 2-button panel, as with the Mamba I have not yet used.
Also, I sometimes feel that the accuracy decreases at higher DPI and I use the recommended Goliatus mouse pad.

    • on-mouse buttons for sensitivity

    Contra

I can recommend this as an MMO mouse for those who don't like the Corsair Scimitar.

Good replacement for the Razer Naga. Side panels do not wobble and the key feedback is good (have only tested the side panel with the 12 buttons). So far, also no errors noticed (with old Nagas, has partly the mouse pointer automatically jumps or holding the right mouse button has loosened). Nothing of this has been noticeable after two weeks.

But since after about 1 year my Razer mice always broke (certain side buttons have only poorly or no longer reacts), I'm curious how long this mouse holds.

    Pro

    • Flexible with the versch. Side parts
    • Good key feedback
    • No errors as in some other Razer Naga models
    • Good customization options via new Razer Synapse version

    Contra

    • Nothing so far

Good layout - but short service life

Unfortunately, the lifespan of these mice is far too short. I've had to replace every Naga after 1-2 years. I'm currently on mouse number five - four of them I bought myself, one was replaced by Razer in the RMA process (for the others I waived a replacement by Razer).

Clicks on the side buttons or the two fire/main buttons no longer register cleanly over time, the mouse wheel quickly loses precision, skips inputs or registers them in the opposite direction. Side clicks with the mouse wheel or side scrolling also become imprecise over time until they no longer work at all.

In one case, a firmware update made my Naga unusable. The mouse pointer then became independent and the mouse was no longer recognised by the software.

Mice from other manufacturers have lasted me for many years and decades, even with intensive use. In fact, ALL of my Logitech mice still work as they did on the first day, with Razer the problems start after about a year.

I only like the Nagas because of their layout and use them in WoW (and only for that). That's also the only reason why I still replace them. I have resigned myself to the fact that I have to buy a new one after 1-2 years.

Replacing them under warranty at Razer is inconvenient and expensive. I had to send my defective mouse to Germany (registered mail currently 34 francs) and received a replacement from the European Razer store. This cost another high fee and customs duty when importing from Europe (on top of the overpriced price of 170 euros in the Razer Store).

The replacement was therefore almost as expensive as a new mouse from the Swiss store and took several weeks. I won't do that a second time and that's probably the manufacturer's intention.

Conclusion: Buy from another manufacturer if you don't necessarily want the layout of a Naga.

    Pro

    • Lies well in the hand
    • Many buttons that are also easy to reach
    • Pleasant scroll wheel with clear rasterisation
    • Scroll wheel can be used to click left and right
    • The two buttons behind the mouse wheel can be assigned freely
    • Internal memory for key assignment
    • Good sensor
    • Illumination can be switched on/off separately for 3 zones (logo, side buttons, mouse wheel)

    Contra

    • Lifetime 1-2 years
    • Buttons and scroll wheel lose precision relatively quickly until inputs are no longer possible
    • Razer software for programming is far too bloated
    • Firmware updates take a long time and have already "bricked" a mouse for me.
    • In the event of a warranty claim, high costs for sending to Germany
    • In case of warranty claim, high costs for import of replacement from EU (customs and fees)
