I haven't had a device this slow in a long time. Probably the cheapest processor on the market

The connection to Spotify or the internet is so terrible. It takes about 1-2 minutes from the start until music is finally playing, then a few more interruptions until the whole thing is finally stable. And no, it's not my network, I'm connected via fibre and 1Gb home network.

    Good sound

The Onkyo TX-NR686 makes a quality impression, even though the controls are made of plastic, everything feels good so far. The pressure point of the buttons is pleasant and precise. All connections are neatly fitted, all cables can be connected without problems and are seated in the connections. The front display shows all information in a clearly structured manner. The receiver is set via TV. The menu is easy to understand and everything can be set as desired. The heat generation at the power level is ok. The remote control is simple and all buttons respond quickly. The keys are made of extremely soft rubber, so it probably won't take long for the lettering to wear off. The receiver has a powerful sound and rich bass. Unfortunately, it only has one Bluetooth receiver, so I need an external transmitter to connect a Bluetooth headset. Sometimes when the receiver is switched on, there is no sound on the rear speakers. After switching on and off several times, the sound is there again.

    Pro

    • good sound
    • rich bass

    Contra

    • Buttons on the remote control
    • Bluetooth headset could not be connected

Genius sound quality with streaming limitations

The receiver is brilliant in its functionality , sound and picture. The only drawback: I chose the device because it offers all the streaming services. Unfortunately, these functions are relatively slow.

    With Spotify, there
is no login screen, so I can't log in. The solution would be to stream Spotify via Chromecast. But Chromecast streaming regularly falters for me. At the moment, the receiver is connected via WLAN. I still have to test it with the LAN cable.

At the moment, I stream Spotify via the attached Chromecast Ultra, with which it works perfectly.
