A lens of the absolute top class!!!
I have had many lenses on various cameras (SLR's), but this one beats them all hands down. (Currently on Nikon D750) and I have not only had Nikon cameras ;)
The sharpness that comes out, even at open aperture, is a real joy. The colour reproduction is also convincing.
Of course, the "dumbbell" is no lightweight, but I'm happy to put up with the weight,
because in the end it's the quality that counts, and this is really above all, and amazingly good.
I also had the Nikkor 70-200 f4, and it can't compete with this lens, not because it's made of plastic (Made in Thailand), but because it's not as sharp, and it's just cheaper to the touch. The 2.8 is also faster and makes a very solid impression. The autofocus works absolutely precise and fast, there is nothing to complain about.
I won't give this lens back and I don't regret buying it for a second.
If you can afford it, you should get it. In my opinion, it's one of Nikon's best lenses.
A clear recommendation to buy!

I bought the lens a few weeks ago and am thrilled with it. Yes, it is long and relatively heavy, but the optical qualities compensate for this several times over. In addition, the lens is robust, the autofocus is fast and precise and the mechanics are stable and smooth. I am simply thrilled by the sharpness and the image quality. No comparison to my previous Zeiss lens, which I also rated as very good at the time.
So: highly recommended. The price is high, but justified and rewards you with a smile every time you take a photo.

I'm not a professional photographer so take my review as such.
I used this with Nikon D750.
I'm quite pleased with the results.
It is not so intuitive when shooting films.
Photos are very clear. It doesn't matter if it is in low light or strong light.
For a beginner like me it is a real helper and it motivates me to learn more.
I wishes I would have discovered tamron 200-600mm or sigma 200-600mm first but is part of the learning process.
