Was recommended to me, has been able to keep its promises so far. Recommendable!

A well-designed and, above all, easy-to-install system. The transmission range for the outdoor cameras is sufficient even in a larger family home. After a good month, the batteries are still at a little over 80% - so that seems to 'lift' too. The batteries make it extremely easy to install the cams outdoors.
The web portal is clear and simple - but I miss a few functions like 2-factor authentication and some detailed configuration options. What could be good for the size of the devices, but even better in practice, is the range of the infrared sensor (actually about 4-5 metres). If you want to use more than 5 cameras, you have to buy a subscription (99.-/year). Unfortunately, an API is still missing so that the system can be integrated into an existing home control system - not so convenient if you switch off the alarm system via the touch panel and then have to change the alarm mode (Home/Away) in the app.

    Pro

    • Easy to install
    • Good quality / workmanship
    • Sensitive microphone
    • Long battery life

    Contra

    • Infrared sensor range
    • Well, not exactly a 'bargain solution'.
    • There is no API for integration into existing home control systems.

    Simple and good

camera can be set up in just a few minutes. Thanks to the cloud solution, recordings as well as live images can be accessed at any time and from anywhere via an app.

    Pro

    • Simple set up
    • Good picture

    Contra

    • A little big

Highly praised surveillance camera with limited utility

The Arlo Pro is highly praised in many reviews. However, in my experience, it is only of limited use as a surveillance camera, as the motion detection is very weak and only works reliably at short distances. Netgear states in the manual (which I unfortunately did not consult before buying) that the maximum distance is around 20ft (6m). However, I can't verify this for me. Also, 6m is too short a distance for outdoor use. In addition, the night mode is rather weak and the camera quickly switches to black and white mode in low light. The IR illumination is also relatively weak and places a heavy load on the battery.
In addition, a pure battery operation (which is what this camera is designed for) is rather a nuisance in the long run, when every few weeks or months (depending on the use) the battery has to be taken out of the camera and charged... Of course, you can get around this with one power supply unit per camera, but you have to make sure that the connection is weatherproof.
However, the set-up and operation is indeed very simple. However, storage in the cloud is only free for motion-triggered sequences, which - at least in my case - doesn't really work well.

    Pro

    • Simple installation and operation
    • Good equipment with microphone and loudspeaker, good resolution and video quality

    Contra

    • Low range of the motion detector
    • Video sensor not very sensitive to light, camera switches early to b/w night mode
    • Expensive if a power supply unit is needed for each camera (and not really weatherproof)
    • Weak IR illumination
