I AM VERY SATISFIED - I would buy again.

The first thing to say is that they are really nice units.
When I think of the other black boxes ... the Velop Nodes can really stand out. You can put them anywhere. Hardly stand out.

All connections and switches are hidden
inside the base, through a loop cables can be nicely led out of the device.

The setup via app was really fun and went quickly. After that, new firmware was searched for and installed (that almost took the longest).

One of the two Velop nodes is connected to the modem via Ethernet (there are two of each in the foot), the second node is then added via app as a "slave". Done.

The second Ethernet port can of course be used to connect other devices via cable. I have connected an external hard drive this way.

We have a four room apartment, not huge about 90m² but with some "dead corners". Skyping in the children's room, so far impossible. WLAN connected TV in the bedroom always had only a "sufficient" connection.

With the two Velop I now have a pretty awesome, stable connection in all rooms.

    Pro

    • amazingly easy and fast configuration
    • speed - much better than router with repeater
    • no need to change the SSID anymore
    • configuration app worked well for me
    • can be extended with more Velops at any time if needed

    Contra

    • price is not a bargain
    • no configuration via web

    Fancy device, weak reception

I purchased the system for an EFH. There is a node on each floor. The setup was extremely easy, and the app said "everything ok". Unfortunately, however, the reception is sometimes unusably weak even in the neighboring room. Probably we would need a node per room...

Individual nodes occasionally drop out unexpectedly - the devices then simply no longer connect to the node in question. The node itself shows "all ok" (blue light) (blue light). The app also says "everything ok". The only thing that helps is a restart.

There are almost no diagnostic options, not even a display of the signal strength with which one node is connected to the next.

Unfortunately, the WLAN can't be turned off completely via a timer (e.g. at night). Individual network devices can only be time-controlled via parental controls. But this is even possible on the road via Internet...

    Pro

    • Simple setup
    • Looks good
    • Control via app even possible on the go

    Contra

    • Range is very low: signal is already unsatisfactory in the neighboring room (without concrete!)
    • Unstable: single nodes drop out unexpectedly
    • Insufficient diagnostic possibility with the app
    • NO TIME SWITCHING for the WLAN, only for individual network devices
    • Time switching for individual devices only in a grid of full hours

Not recommended without line of sight

I bought the Linksys and immediately returned it. The connection was even worse than with the current hardware. The access points need to have a line of sight to each other. Some settings were not possible, e.g. that my iPad always connects with 5 ghz. The function was displayed, but no adjustment was possible. Absolutely not recommendable for this price. Ubiquite solved my problem. 5 ghz full deflection and full HD stream 1080 no longer a problem.
