It's time to do a review that really brings some clarity. Neither the reviews before nor Lenco manufacturer website are useful.
Why didn't I buy an Android tablet for my kids in 2018? I wanted my kids to have the look ahead and not get sick of it. Some know about reading books on the train, not all are up for it. Then I wanted the vacations free from Android and games. It's time for the family. A passive movie for entertainment like on the plane is ok and appeals less like losing a level in PvZ. (No my kids don't have Android at home 24/7 ;-) )
Now about the player. The Lenco is ready in less than 5 seconds, no OS present. I play movies via USB stick or SD card. The format - and now read well ;-) is the following: (Video Encoder "Xvid" up to 720x480 resolution, Audio Codec must be "MP3") I used Video Converter Ultimate and input videos were MKV's with AC3,DTS. All no problem.
The resolution is not powerful but absolutely good and a movie is 1.5GB which is enough space with a cheap 16GB stick. Volume is also good and adapted for children's ears. The workmanship is good and if you do not screw the plastic parts like a bull to the headrest then nothing breaks. With feeling like a CPU socket....
Also with SD cards can be played synchronously, the image is copied via AV signal. Stone age - but works without complaining. DVD works but further tests I have not made.

All in all a good device. DVD works perfectly. Playing movies via the USB as well as SD port does not work for me. Neither MP3 nor AVI, WMV and MPEG can be played (codec not supported). Have contacted support, but to date (after 2 weeks) no response.
