I can recommend the smartphone to everyone for this price, in a world of 1000+ CHF expensive devices. I would strike again.

I pre-ordered the device directly when it was fresh on the market. Currently, I am over the moon. The hardware is very extremely capable and I get along well with the Huawei Android. However, I would still prefer a stock Android here.

Very good smartphone - with a few (tolerable) drawbacks

After numerous years with Samsung, I wanted to try out a Huawei smartphone, despite the frequent criticism of EMUI, and I was not disappointed. I would have preferred the P30 Pro in terms of specs, but like many other top models, the phone is too big for me. With a few exceptions, the normal P30 offers a similar range of features in a smaller format.

If you wait a month or two, you can probably get the P30 for 500-600CHF. Then the decision to buy is a nobrainer in my opinion.

    Pro

    • Generally excellent workmanship
    • Great display
    • Very good camera(s), even in low light
    • "Old" jack plug for headphones present
    • Very powerful / fast / fluid
    • Enough storage space (128GB)
    • Good battery - you get through the day well with it
    • Good size - most phones are too big for me, but this 6.1" display is just about right.

    Contra

    • No wireless charging
    • Only one of the three cameras with optical image stabiliser (pictures nevertheless top, even in the dark)
    • Cams on the back are not positioned centrally, which means that the phone rests/tilts "at an angle" when it is placed on the ground.
    • Huawei's EMUI is debatable - there are better ones, but you can live with it well
