This comment compares the printer with its predecessor, the HP Officejet 8600 pro.
After 5 years of trouble-free operation, the print head was defective, so it was obvious to buy the successor.
In relation to its predecessor, the 8710 is a disappointment all along the line. A step backwards, a bad buy.
The device is rickety, very cheaply built. Too cheap, it is much louder in operation than its predecessor.
The cartridges are identical, but cannot be inserted.
Not that I had a large stock, but it hurt me to throw the old printer away, the new one has no advantages. So why throw away the cartridges?
New functions after 5 years? I can't think of any.
Catastrophic product management, as a customer you feel like you're being taken for a ride and degraded to an ink buyer.
I would have gladly paid a little more for a printer that simply does what you expect: print silently and quickly.
Oh yes: and now, after half a year, the paper feed is already jammed. The sheet gets stuck.
At least it's finished printing... but nobuy...

Unfortunately less stable than the predecessor, poorer quality.

Easy to install, doesn't take up much space - but after 2.5 years and little printing, the print head is already defective. I expected more from this device - after 1xHP I will probably change again to Epson or Brother, which lasted 6 resp. 8 years and printed even more.
