Works straight away. Quite fast, 40MB/s on my laptop via USB3 with 64GB SD XC card (the laptop can't do much more). 2 cards can be inserted at the same time (micro and normal SD card). With Micro SD it is a "normal" USB stick, the card can be inserted completely. The only disadvantage is that it is a bit thick and can therefore block a connection next to it, but then a small adapter cable (which is not included) can help. For the price, top-notch.
