purchased this productWe need more competition!
There is no real competition yet for satellite messenger, so it's either Garmin or Spot. I had really no choice because Spot is without message delivery verification. Needed SOS where mobile is not available.
Pro
- Thicker but smaller than mobile phone.
- SOS function with verification of sent message
- 2 way text communication with message verification
- No real alternatives at the moment and still much better than Spot
- Rugged, splashproof
- Can be charged with microUSB
Contra
- Garmin is getting more expensive and less competitive. What a pity!
- Texting without a mobile phone is ridiculously tedious.
- Yearly fee, even when not in use once activated.
- Non-replaceable battery.
- Poor customer service.

purchased this productFantastic for Zombies apocalypse
Communication without land transmitting -receiving stations works well thanks to sattelite connection when two such devices communicate, which makes it possible to communicate from the middle of nowhere, or when energy outages on vast areas start to occur. Communication is text based, but works well thanks to the mobile app availability. Subscription (at Garmin) for a year costs ~40 CHF, plus cheapest for a month ~20 CHF when using it and everything can be enabled or disabled via online account, which is a decent alternative for satellite mobile phones where one needs to buy physically special SIM cards when using prepaid option, which costs more in the end.
Pro
- Compact size
- Good quality, solid case
- Fast response
- Decent mobile app available

purchased this productDoes what it should super and nothing else
Pro
- Robust
- Battery life
- Well readable display even with sunlight
- Has few unnecessary functions, which would be out of place in such a device
- Practical carabiner
Contra
- Expensive (disproportionate) subscription needed even if hardly used.
- Finding satellites can take a long time. (Probably disadvantage of the technology and not a bug)
- Transmitting and receiving can take a long time. Probably a disadvantage of the technology and not a bug
- Operation with the few buttons too little intuitive for first-time users in emergency situations.
