purchased this productA good solid instrument for basic needs
Well, when it costs 35 Fr. you can't expect a top professional instrument. And this thing isn't one. But it bravely does its job, if you manage to keep it away fron the sun and any other source of heat, while keeping it in contact with the elements. Which is not as easy as it sounds. I'm still trying to find an ideal place for this in my hiking clothes or backpack.
Basically, it delivers an idea of the temp. variations during your hike (which is what I needed). It does better on cloudy days. As expected, the GPX files produced will grow noticably. But you get a nice graph in BaseCamp.
On the positive side, connecting the Sensor with my Garmin GPS is really easy and works immediately. The two instruments now reconnect in an instant each time I turn on my GPS.Pro
- Connecting with the GPS is really easy
Contra
- Any direct or indirect contact with sunlight messes up the results

Tiptop!
Use the sensor for various purposes, mostly in connection with trekking activities lasting several days (Sweden, Finland, etc.). E.g. to measure the temperature in the tent or to get an estimate of how cold it is outside the tent. Not essential, so more for those who are interested in such things. Uses hardly any battery (never had to change it in the last 2 years). Once configured on the Garmin GPS device, you never have to worry about it again (finds sensor automatically), and even when the GPS device is switched off, min/max values of the last 24h are stored.
Pro
- Can be attached anywhere
- Long range
- Economical
Contra
- Poor radiation protection (sun)

purchased this productFinally also the right temperature
The displays even on very expensive sports watches like the fenix 6 only show meaningless values, because it is a mixed value between body temperature and ambient temperature. After all the money spent on all the Garmin gadgets, it is worth spending 30 francs on the right temperature.
By the way: we use a TEMPE for my wife and me together. It is stored on the treadmill and when we run indoors, together or alone outdoors, the person who needs it always has the temperature with him. Don't forget to let the sensor "acclimatise" outside for a quarter of an hour when it's cold outside.Pro
