Inexpensive and simple, but technically and mechanically perfectly functioning, complete entry-level package for studio photography.

The entry-level package from Elinchrom with the two RX 2 heads is pretty much what you would expect from a Swiss manufacturer: impeccable quality, good usability, consistent performance. Of course, the set is probably not made in Switzerland, that would hardly be possible for the price, but the concept is coherent. I deliberately chose the two "smaller" flash heads because I work a lot with individual and small group portraits. So in my case, the possibility of working with relatively little light and an open aperture is more important than illuminating large areas evenly.

The operation of the Elinchrom flashes is perfect: the small transmitter, which can be plugged onto any camera with a hot shoe, offers several frequencies to choose from, is quickly set and immediately ready for use. The flash heads are largely self-explanatory: anyone who has ever worked with an Elinchrom flash will not need to rethink. The modelling light is very good, the flash sequence short enough to work without interruption.

The tripods are also easy to use, the height is sufficient (you can't go any higher without a ladder or chair because then you can't reach the heads). Everything comes together in two very well-made bags, so that everything can be stowed and transported quickly and safely.

The two umbrellas are of excellent quality, but a large softbox will probably be added soon. The length of the power cables is also great: in most cases you don't need an extension, a distributor is perfectly sufficient.

Overall, I am more than satisfied with the purchase of the set as a "starter package". Above all, the good quality and the integration into the Elinchrom system, the well thought-out details above all are more important to me than a lot of bling-bling. more
