VHS tapes finally as digital files! - Good to very good!

Very easy and clear to use; nevertheless you can make some useful adjustments - VIDEO: brightness, contrast, saturation, color cast; SOUND: plus/minus db. Unfortunately, the software seems to be not so cleanly programmed: crashes from time to time! Help: close all other programs, restart Elgato app - no more crashes! Maybe the QuickTime app bothers the most...?!

HARDWARE: Many adapters and cables included; however, the S-VIDEO cable has a wrong connector for the VHS recorder: female instead of male! Therefore had to order an additional S-VIDEO cable (any supplier): 2 times plug!Whenever possible work with S-VIDEO output, because here brightness and color are transmitted separately!

RESOLUTION: 640 x 480 px - actually okay, but I wouldn't mind if you could also set a higher resolution to still have some leeway for editing. I worked with a PANASONIC Super-VHS recorder; both from VHS and S-VHS cassettes the movie file is 640 x 480 pixels.

FILES: as mp4 - whether you encode with h264 or with the less good MPEG-4.
CODING: H264 needs more processing power of the computer, the result is better, the files are smaller.
